Her musical research work, focused on the dialogue between tradition and modernity in musical composition, has been published in specialized journals such as Roseta, edited by the Spanish Guitar Society; the Koninklijk Conservatorium Research Catalogue of the University of the Arts in The Hague; and Gitara, journal published by the Croatian Association of Guitar Pedagogues (HUGIP). She is currently pursuing an artistic-scientific PhD in Music at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Graz (KUG) in collaboration with the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). Silvia is currently an artist-in-residence in the Residenze Erranti program (Milan/Padua).

The main objective of this project is to challenge the uniform stereotype that surrounds the academic discourse and the performance of 20th century classical guitar works inspired by traditional Spanish folk music. The performer’s hermeneutic mission demands complete consistency: we must first identify and decipher the references, signs and symbols concealed in the score to organise them coherently, interpret them and bring them back to life. A new reading of these musical references is proposed in order to uncover their original symbolism and to connectmusicological insight with musical practice. For both the composer and the performer, having a set of aesthetic stereotypes related to Spanish culture can offer the great advantage that they are simple and easily recognisable designs that favour a direct and immediate connection with the listener. However, beneath this colourful facade lies the original reality of the musical idea: its genuine emotional, cultural and artistic references, or its concrete allusion to a specific social reality. This research seeks to trace the original sources of the melodies and dances that inspired this classical guitar repertoire, thereby revealing and recognising, among other aspects, the active role played by rural women in this musical and cultural context.
The performance practice of these compositions requires an intertextual approach that, from a multidisciplinary perspective, emphasises and explores the re-contextualisation of the emotional and craft aspects of the heritage of traditional folk music within academic music production. This approach will be essential to understanding the dynamics of this cultural exchange.
